Wish: Using Thumbnail Default Point of View as Screen Captur
Hi,
I am considering purchasing the product after having toyed around with the trial version, however there is one
important feature missing, which is essential for me.
I want to run a Batch Command Screen Capture on a couple of thousand 3D models (.OBJ), however they never
look good enough from the default camera positions (Front, Back, Side, etc.). I managed to set the Thumbnail Default Point of View
for the preferred camera position, however this POW cannot be used for screen capture.
Would it be possible to add the Thumbnail Default Point of View as a selectable point of view for Batch Screen Capture (Save Scene as Image)?
I really hope that this is possible, otherwise this small inflexibility prevents me from executing my task in the right way.
Looking forward to your response,
NavMan

Hi,
What a miss!
You are true! Why I forgot to add the default POW in the drop down list? Mistery...
Sometime, small ergonomic enhancements make big differences.
Thanks for reporting that. Promise: it will be added in the next release!
I'll do it now and I'll send you the new plugin with this new feature ASAP to thank you reporting that.

Re: Wish: Using Thumbnail Default Point of View as Screen Captur
Hi Manuel,
I have one more question. Currently the "Save Scene as Image..." option allows me to create an Animated sequence of images.
The Batch Command "Save Scene as Image...", however does not allow the creation of Animated sequences (e.g. batch screencapture of 100 objects, 12 images per objects).
Is this something that you would consider putting into the release? The reason I am asking is that sometimes the 3D objects have different orientation
and rendering 10 image for each would allow me to select the one best representing the object. Please let me know if adding this feature would be possible.
Thank you,
NavMan

Hello again,
I start to implement your request but doing it, I find that its not so obvious that I thought.
It implies many changes in different part of the application... Anyway I am doing it.
I'll also look to your animation request and will here when I get something.

Hi Manuel,
I can only hope that you are still considering implementing the proposed features. Please let me know if you think these are
feasible. I would be most grateful if you could indicate when do you plan (if you plan) to release the new version with these two
additions.
Thank you!

Hi,
Yes, I considered your request seriously. I worked on this last week and this is now working.
It required more work than I estimate. Previously the batch command pipeline couldn't handle animation generation. I mean that before you give a single thing to a batch command and it returns another single thing. Now a batch command can have a multiple result, just as it is need by the Save Scene As Image command which generates several images from a single scene.
So - as promised - I am pleased to announce you 3D Photo Browser 9.12 for this week. I am just finishing testing all.
I also added a new macro to do you job easily. It will generates an animated Gif containing 60 frames from your scenes.
Of course this will be easy to customize it.
Anyway, thanks for your idea.

This is done.
3D Photo Browser 8.12 has just been released and includes the feature you request.
Please let me know your feeling about it.

Hi Manuel,
Thank you very much, the 9.12 version works perfectly. I ran a batch animation command from a thumbnail POW for about 30 OBJs
and it works fantastically!I am definitively going to purchase the product now and a few collegaues of mine will do the same as well.
Thanks!
