Creating slideshows

The Export Slides Show feature can be used to create a standalone slideshow.
This is a small application that contains your pictures, 3D scene images, sound and descriptive text.
You can send this application to a friend or partner. You can use it for your business or put it in the Windows Startup folder.

Slideshow without text (download this slideshow example)

  1. Prepare your files for export.
    Sort your files according to how you want them to be displayed.
  2. Selecting files for export
    Use the Ctrl key to select multiple files.
  3. Select Tools / Other / Export slideshow from the main menu: a dialogue box will appear.
  4. Select the default settings for your slideshow:
    • The end user will be able to change these settings when starting the slideshow.
    • Select the width, height and quality of the slides.
    • The smaller the format and quality, the smaller the generated application.
    • Enter the delay for the slides to appear in Display time.
    • You can change the background colour, use the transition or not, and enlarge small images to fill the screen.
    • Tick the Loop display box to make the slideshow loop indefinitely.
    • Tick Play sound or not if you have sounds associated with your files.
      Note that the sound format is not converted and you must ensure that you use a common audio format if you want the slide show to work on all computers.
  5. Tick the Preview Slides Show.
  6. Select Open Explorer window from the drop down menu.
  7. Click the Text tab and tick the No text box to remove all text.

  8. Click the OK button: the slide show preview will start.
  9. Click anywhere to stop the preview: a dialog box will ask if you want to export the slideshow.
  10. Answer Yes to export the slide show.
  11. Enter a name (e.g. slidesshow.exe) for your slideshow application and click OK.
    3DBrowser starts to create the slide show.
  12. An Explorer window will appear. Double-click slidesshow.exe to start your slideshow.
    The slideshow application is standalone. The end user does not need to have 3DBrowser on their computer to use it.
    The end user can adjust the settings by right-clicking while the slideshow is running.

Slide show with plain text

  • Preparing files for export
    • Sort the files as you want them to be displayed.
    • Edit the file title and description to display specific text on each slide.
  • Follow steps 2 to 6 in part A.
  • Click the Text tab. Deselect the No text box.
  • Click the top left box of the Position control.
  • Click in the text edit box, then press Ctrl+A, then Backspace to delete the existing text.
  • Edit the following text: Filename: <brtfilename(name)> <tagifexist>Title: <brttitle><tagendifexist>

  • Type 'Filename' in the first line. Press the return key. This text will appear on each slide.

  • Click on the Tags button.
    Select File - Name and Properties / File name. Press the return key. A tag is inserted on the second line.
    This tag will be replaced by the file name on each slide.
  • Click on the Tags button. Select Conditional Tags / Empty tag evaluation test.
    The <tagifexist></tagifexist> tag is added to the text.
  • Type 'Title:' in the middle of these tags. Click the Tags button. Select File - Description / Title.
    The <brttitle> tag will be added to the text.
    This sequence of tags will be replaced on each slide by something like 'Title: the file title'.
    If no title has been edited for a given file, nothing will be displayed. To find out how to edit a title for a file, see Editing information in a file.
  • In the editing area, press Ctrl+A to select all the text. Select the font, size and colour of the text from the toolbar.
  • Select the background colour of the text by clicking the Colour button.
  • Uncheck the Text on transparent background box.
  • Click another box in the Position control.
    You can edit a different text for this position.
