Converting to GLTF: problems and solutions!
This tutorial shows how to best export to GLTF format from FBX, Sketchup and Lightwave files.
It presents different problems that can be encountered depending on the particularities of each format and solutions to get a proper export and to ensure the best performances and results in a GLTF web viewer.
Here are the different use cases:
- The first case concerns an FBX scene with many objects and more than 2 million faces. A solution to improve the performances and to reduce the drawcalls is proposed by merging the objects by materials, which means that the scene graph is reorganized in order to have 1 object = 1 material
- The second case shows how to export Sketchup files which have the particularity of having different materials on the front and back side of the faces.
- The last case explains how to export a model which textures have an alpha cut mask.
