Do you know if Polygon Cruncher can bake textures himself if UVs are not preserved? Thank you!

Hi Margarita,

I am not sure to understand.
When you Keep Textures is unchecked in the interface, this means that no UVs are kept.
As there is no UV, there is no texture displayed and the object only display the diffuse color of the material.

Could you explain what you are meaning by baking texture?
Do you want mean:
  • create an atlas from the different UV Map and texture?
  • create a normal map for the optimized mesh from the original mesh?
  • ...
Thanks for your explanation!

Thank you for your reply!
Actually I'm interested in both:
1. Is it possible to do re-atlassing with new textures with Polygon Cruncher?
2. Does Polygon Cruncher bake normal maps after simplification or it keeps the old ones?
Thank you!

Thanks!
We are currently working on a baking normal tool from the low res version of the mesh generated by Polygon Cruncher.
Unfortunately, it is not yet available (work beginning) but we hope to release this before the end of the year.

Concerning the re-atlassing, this is something we often tought, no plan to implement yet, but definitively something that will occurs soon.
I feel that it will be the next feature after baking.

But patience is the right answer at the moment!
