3DBrowser / 3DBrowser Pro Overview
|
![]() |
3DBrowser is an application dedicated to the management and optimization for your 3D content. It includes a 3D viewer, an image viewer linked to a powerful file explorer. Thanks to its agility and efficiency, 3DBrowser can be integrated into very different production pipelines: architecture, video games, scientific data, 3D printing, etc.
Fast and efficient, it allows you to organize your 3D model libraries with the help of large customizable preview thumbnails. You can display, filter, sort, organize, search among your 3D scenes and images in order to find the exact model you need in few seconds.
To make it easier to organize large 3D collections, you can document, annotate, categorize all your content to find them on your computer or local network.
3DBrowser facilitates interoperability between different 3D software. It will perfectly fit into a production pipeline including, for example, 3ds Max, Maya or Sketchup in conjunction with Unreal Engine or Unity. Exportation to all major 3D formats, simplification of polygonal meshes (Pro version), and batch processing enable the diffusion and sharing of your 3D content.
3DBrowser recognizes most image formats and many 3D formats:
3DBrowser integrates a powerful 3D viewer: the motorway to the heart of the 3D content of a scene. You'll never get lost in your 3D view and find the ideal angle to check every detail. With an intuitive navigation tool, you will be able to inspect a complex model very easily: targeted zoom, orbital rotation around an object, instant re-centering, provides very effective navigation at the microscopic and macroscopic zoom level. No more problems to examine the scene in detail or more globally. You can save specific points of view and get them back later if necessary.
Complex scenes are sometimes compounded of several thousand objects. It becomes a nightmare to find your way around the tree structure. A quick filtering tool, offering logical operators, makes it easy to navigate through complex hierarchies and to show or hide particular objects in a flash.
The viewer displays textures, vertex colors but also takes into account user normals. You can choose among many display modes to highlight your content (vignetting, mirroring, shadows) or bring out the relevant information (normal map, wireframe or cutting plan view (Pro version).
The viewer works in conjunction with the file explorer (of both 3DBrowser and Windows). You have a global or case-by-case control on the preview thumbnails shown when browsing folders. You can thus define a specific viewpoint and a particular display mode for a single 3D file, a whole directory, or a given 3D format.
You drill down to the heart of the information: display normal, point or face indexes, detailed information on topology, face material assignation, UV values... All of these elements make 3DBrowser a complete diagnostic tool that sorts out many of the problems you may be facing.
3DBrowser (Pro version) comes with annotation features that facilitate information sharing, especially for project follow-ups. Annotate objects in the 3D view using the right angle of view and make your projects run more smoothly. Annotations are visible in all versions of 3DBrowser.
3DBrowser allows you to merge 3D projects distributed over several files within the same scene, which is common in CAD. The creation of batch processing commands automates repetitive tasks, making it possible, for example, to export a 3D content into different formats in one operation.
3DBrowser is the hinge between your different production tools (3ds Max, Maya, Sketchup, Cinema 4D, Blender...) and broadcast tools (Unreal Engine, Unity or other). 3DBrowser simplifies interoperability by supporting export to the main 3D formats (fbx, gtlf, collada, wavefront, sketchup, cinema 4D, modo and others).
3DBrowser (Pro version) includes advanced functions to prepare your 3D assets. It includes advanced functions to pack them in the best way: mesh optimization (using Polygon Cruncher, whose StandAlone version is part of the license), object merging, object reorganization by material, separation of objects that are not topologically connected, etc.
The list of features described here is not exhaustive and you will discover by yourself many other very useful functions: confused point welding, triangulation, 3D view printing, animated gif exportation…
Polygon Cruncher reduces the number of faces of your objects while maintaining the quality of their details. You also keep the textures of the object as well as the color information of the vertices.
By viewing the scene as it is optimized, you can choose the level of optimization that fits your needs.
It is possible to batch optimize scenes contained in a directory and automatically reduce them to different levels of detail.
Polygon Cruncher's MagicCruncher function automatically determines the ideal optimization level for each object in a scene. You don't have to do anything, everything is then automatic.
3DBrowser Pro also includes the license to use Polygon Cruncher StandAlone, an independent application dedicated to polygonal mesh optimization.
An image viewer integrates the main functions to explore and modify your photos or textures. It displays the image layers (with or without transparency) and integrates the essential tools to perform basic operations on images:
3DBrowser is also a powerful tool for exploring 3D files, images or libraries stored on your computer or local network. Thus, you have at your disposal efficient functions to browse and explore:
3DBrowser also provides rich features to quickly rename a set of files, hide useless parts of the folder tree structure, display folder and sub-folders sizes, create zip files…
3DBrowser allows you to describe your 3D or image libraries. For this purpose, you can quickly associate keywords, notes or categorize your files.
It is then possible to access this metadata from different tools of the application. For example :
Albums allow you to extract collections of files from different directories. Albums consist of references to these files. They allow you to gather some 3D assets in different ways, without changing the underlying organization of your files.
3DBrowser (Pro version) allows annotation within a 3D file. Annotations allow you to associate a comment to an object under the chosen viewing angle. Notes are visible in the 3D view and you can navigate from one note to another. This process simplifies the exchange of information within your teams.
Besides offering functions to convert scenes or resize images from an entire directory in a few clicks, 3DBrowser also allows the creation of more complex tasks.
You can automate specific tasks by creating batch processing commands.
Most 3D and image processing are scriptable. Generate images from your 3D scenes? Convert images to JPEG 60 quality? Convert scenes in different formats ?
Select one of the predefined commands or create the one adapted to your needs.
3DBrowser (Pro version) includes Polygon Cruncher batch processing module. This tool automatically generates LOD versions from your high-resolution scenes. For a file or all files in a directory, you can export low-resolution versions optimized at 50%, 80% and 95% or at the level automatically determined by MagicCruncher. By calculating the optimal optimization ratio, MagicCruncher fully automates the process.
3DBrowser integrates many additional tools to share your data more easily.
The printing tool produces contact sheets from your 3D libraries or images. In conjunction with Ghostscript you can export to PDF. You have full control over the layout: size and fonts, colors, number of images, header and footer, texts associated with the images (size, description, title...). You can choose from predefined templates or define your own.
You can easily create an animated GIF from your scenes, a quick and easy way to share visuals via instant messaging.
You can produce a slideshow from your 3D libraries or display your models while the computer is idle.
Snap specific details of your scenes with the screen capture tool and share these images (or videos) with third parties by e-mail, or by copy-pasting them to your instant messaging thread.
It is also possible to export all the metadata linked to your files to a text file for reintegration in a database for example.
The zip creation tool allows you to compress in 1 click a set of files or a complete tree structure.
