Edges

This function reveals edges which are high contrasted parts of image. Unlike Emboss function, this filter removes image colors.

Edge size

Width (in pixel) of resulting edges.

Random Spread

This function moves pixels image pixels randomly.

Spread strength

This is the maximum distance a pixel can be moved.

Emboss

Highlights edges of image with a 3D effect. Unlike 'Edges' this filter keeps image colors.

Radius	Edges width (size of the convolution kernel)
Sigma	Coefficients distribution in the convolution kernel. Values lower than 1.0 alter colors. Otherwise, it produces high contrasted edges for value close to 1.0, soft edges for greater values.

Charcoal

This filter turns edges to grays levels, as if they are drawn using charcoal.

Radius	Edges width (size of the convolution kernel)
Sigma	Coefficients distribution in the convolution kernel. Values lower than 1.0 alter edges. Otherwise, it produces high contrasted edges for value close to 1.0, soft edges for greater values.

Shade

This filter simulates image lighting, with a spot which has a given direction and elevation. Edges appears raised or stamped, depending on settings.

Light direction angle	This angle reveals edges which are in the specified direction.
Light elevation angle	Incidence angle of the spot. Values close to 0° and 180° give a low-angled light effect. This increases egdes contrasts and results in a dark image. Values close to 90° result in brighten image.
Color shading	A color shading is applied when Color shading is checked. This results in dark image for elevation angle close to 0° and unchanged image for value close to 90°. When unchecked, filter produces a grays levels image.

Oil Paint
